NBC Musical 2016: Could 'Hamilton' Follow 'Hairspray'? Execs Talk 'Thrilling Experience' [VIDEO]
History has its eyes on Hamilton, the NBC isn't going to go down in the books as the station that let a live TV version of the American musical slip through its fingers.

The peacock network embraced the idea off an annual live musical back in 2013, and as of The Wiz Live!, it's clear NBC has finally worked out the kinks. Now that Hamilton is one of Broadway's hottest tickets, viewers are clamoring for Lin-Manuel Miranda's creation to jump to TV screens.
As a Hamilton investor, NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt is certainly not adverse to the prospect. However, it sounds like fans are just going to have to wait for it.
"It's a thrilling theatrical experience," Greenblatt said, according to TV Insider. "I think it'd be a thrilling movie or television experience, and yeah, I'd love to. I think it's unrealistic for a decade or so, but check back with me then."
Next holiday season, viewers can tune in for Hairspray.
"That title seems really fun and I think it will be really great live," Greenblatt told The Hollywood Reporter.
