On the Season three finale of the British-American drama Downton Abbey, it was revealed that Violet's wild great-niece, Rose (Lily James), would be staying put in Downton while her family made the long trek to India.

According to TV Line, James has officially been promoted to a series regular for its upcoming fourth season, which means that she'll be seen around a lot more often then she has in the past.

Carter had previously reported that Rose's return would be paving the way for a pair of surprise characters, who will have a full grasp on the obvious change that's occurring in terms of the British society.

Although he was relatively mum about dishing on the upcoming season, Downton Abbey executive producer Gareth Neame did touch on the series' future.

"We're entering a more modern age, the post-war into the 1920s and all things that came after that, a slightly freer world and women having more freedom."

While Naeme was extremely discreet on the subject of Rose's increased role, he did reiterate the significance of her presence moving forward into next season.

"She's an established character now, so she's part of the ensemble."

Tom Branson (Allen Leech), who lost his wife, is said to continue wearing his heart on his sleeve in his quest to woo Sybil. The respective declaration will supposedly leave "a significant impression on him for months to come."

Naeme also addressed the Branson's unideal predicament and the obstacles that the character faces.

"I mean obviously, he is in a similar situation [as Mary] really. We know he's a widow and he has a young child. Again, he has huge dilemmas to face," Naeme added.

Taking place in the fictional Yorkshire country estate of Downton Abbey, the popular series chronicles the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family after the Edwardian era and centers on historic events during that respective time period.

Downton Abbey is set to return at some point in the fall of 2013. Information on the upcoming season will be posted as it's revealed.
