The town of Salem and Days of Our Lives fans may not have seen the last of Ben Weston (Robert Scott Wilson) just yet.

Kayla Squares Off Against Ava

After Wilson retweeted a tweet earlier this week that seemed to suggest his serial killer character may be headed back to Salem for a few episodes, the rumor mill began circulating with possible reasons for the character's return. He was last seen being carted off to prison for the murders of Serena Mason, Paige Larsen and Will Horton, and the attempted murders of Marlena Evans (Deirdre Hall), Abigail Deveraux (Kate Mansi) and Chad DiMera (Billy Flynn).

However, if he is coming back for a brief stay, likely for when his character goes to face a judge for the charges and is convicted of his crimes officially, it could make for an interesting new arc depending on when his character makes the return.

Andre Becomes Suspicious Of Hope

Mansi has confirmed that she is leaving the role of Abigail, with her final air dates scheduled for sometime in May, and no ord has been given on whether or not the role is being recast, which leaves it open to the possibility that Abigail will leave Salem for unexpected reasons, or could even be killed off.

Since Ben's arrest, Abigail's son has been determined to actually be Chad's biological son, not Ben's, and the two have recently become engaged to officially bring their family together. However, Ben is still under the belief that his ex-fiancee gave birth to his son, so if his return sees him learning the truth, he could find a way to escape from custody and seek revenge on her-which, if Abigail is being killed off, would make for a perfect exit for the character.

None of this has been officially confirmed by NBC.

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
