'Once Upon a Time' Season 5 News: Lana Parrilla Talks 'Familiar Faces' Coming Back For Second Half
Once Upon a Time star Lana Parrilla recently teased what's ahead for the second half of season 5.
Will Neal Be Acknowledged After Emma Enters The Underworld On 'Once Upon a Time'?
Parrilla, who plays Regina on the series, did not reveal too much new information in her interview with E! News, but she did offer some interesting details for longtime fans of the show who have been watching since season 1.
"We're taking everyone to the Underworld, so we're basically entering Hell, which is really exciting 'cause there's a lot of characters that have died on the show that are going to make an appearance in the second half of the season," Parrilla explained. "So there's a lot of familiar faces that are coming back."
How Will Regina React To Reuniting With Those She's Killed On 'Once Upon a Time'?
Parrilla also spoke on the topic of diversity in Hollywood in the wake of this year's Oscar controversy. With Academy voters failing to nominate a single person of color in the acting categories for the second year in a row, the Oscars have found themselves in a negative light.
But considering the problem starts with how few mainstream movies starring minorities are made each year, Parrilla spoke about television being a stronger medium for diversity.
"Diversity is extremely important. Grateful that TV has that - we've taken those steps and those doors have opened for minorities but it would be - and we have some in film but they're not as recognized," she noted. "So I'm hoping that next year we'll see different nominees up there."
Once Upon a Time season 5 returns on Sunday, March 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
