The NBC series won't begin filming for season 3 until Feb. 1, but the first casting announcement has already leaked out. Jennifer Beals will join the cast next summer, and she will make her debut in the premiere.
Doctor Syd Jennings will meet Dr. Drew Alister (Brendan Fehr) during his tour in Afghanistan, according to Deadline. A Major in the Army, Syd will augment her medical duties through the Culture Support Teams (CST).

We're excited for Beals addition, but her good news came hand in hand with a little bad news for Drew and Rick (Luke Macfarlane). The couple closed out season 2 with "I do," but it sounds like their honeymoon will be short lived. Rick's decision to take a local job won't mean much when Drew is stationed halfway across the world. Then again, this isn't the first time deployment has kept them apart.
With production set to begin in just over a week, fans can expect a deluge of behind-the-scenes photos and teasers to come pouring out.
