'Legends Of Tomorrow' Episode 3: Will Hawkman Return? EP Teases Consequence Of 'Dying Out Of Time' [VIDEO]
It's not often an apparent lead gets killed off in the series pilot, but for Legends of Tomorrow's Hawkman, that's exactly what happened.
The reincarnated Egyptian entered the DC world after 207 failed battles with Vandal Savage, and Carter Hall can now up that number to 208. Rip Hunter's excursion to 1975 went awry in more ways than one, but ultimately it left one member of his crack team dead on the floor.
From Atom to Firestorm, Hunter's merry band of time travelers spent the two-part pilot getting schooled in dangers of messing with one's time line. As Ray's future tech nearly brought 2016 to a fiery end, Stein's visit to his younger self took threw a wrench in his own life as things started to get, as per Cisco, "Marty and the Polaroid trippy."

The pilot could easily be a cautionary tale for young Time Lords Masters, but despite all the dangers of time travel, the Waverider's journeys may become Hawkman's saving grace. According to executive producer Marc Guggenheim, "it's totally possible" that Hawkman could show his face before the reincarnation cycle resets.
"It gets a little complicated because he died 'out of time' essentially. He didn't die in 2016" Guggenheim explained to TV Line. "But the way that the reincarnation works is once they both die, that's when the clock gets reset for them, and that's when two babies are born."
