Kenya Moore Slams Honey Boo Boo 'Looks Like A Hooker,' Says Real Housewives of Atlanta Star
Kenya Moore, who is known for always speaking her mind, openly slammed reality star Honey Boo Boo.
Moore, 41, said in a recent interview that Alana Thompson, 7, who is nicknamed Honey Boo, is "not a role model." The Real Housewives of Atlanta star said the outfits the pintsized reality star wears to pageants that she competes are similiar to those worn by prostitutes.
"Honey Boo Boo is not a role model for young women," Moore told InTouch. "Her mother puts her onstage looking like a glorified hooker!"
Moore, a former Miss USA pageant winner, shared her thoughts on what being in a pageant is about. The reality star said the strategies that Thompson's mother, "Mama June" uses to help her daughter win pageants are "not appropriate."
"Pageants are about having poise and promoting self-esteem and self-worth," Moore explained. "When a little girl wears a lot of makeup, fake teeth and extensions, like hookers do - that's just not appropriate."
Moore was a 22-year-old Wayne University student who competed as Miss Michigan USA when she became Miss USA pageant in 1993. Last year, she joined the cast of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The newcomer's brazen comments has sparked feuds with the show's other cast members, namely Porsha Stewart and Phaedra Parks.
Thompson became wildly popular when she appeared on TLC's docu-series Toddlers and Tiaras. After becoming an overnight sensation for her pageant wins and funny remarks, the cable network gave the 7-year-old her own spinoff title Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. The show follows Thompson's life in the pageant world as well as her family's lifestyle at home in Georgia.
Other celebrities have spoken out against Thompson's reality show. Maroon 5 singer and The Voice coach Adam Levine also slammed Here Comes Honey Boo Boo in a magazine interview.
Levine, 33 called the show "the decay of Western civilization."
"Just because so many people watch the show doesn't mean it's good," Levine told GQ. "So many people witness atrocities and can't take their eyes away from them, but that doesn't mean they're good," he said. "That show is literally The. Worst. Thing. That's. Ever. Happened."
