Bentley played John Lowe on American Horror Story: Hotel, a police detective who gradually became insane while living in the Hotel Cortez--revealing his murderous tendencies. The performance earned Bentley a Critics' Choice Award nomination, but he did not end up winning. We'll see if the actor is nominated for an Emmy this summer.
Previously, Bentley had a guest role as Edward Mordrake in American Horror Story: Freak Show, the man with an extra face on the back of his head.

In his film career, Bentley is well known for his off-kilter, dark performances in films like American Beauty, Ghost Rider and The Hunger Games. So naturally he was able to fit in with the crazy world of American Horror Story.
Bentley has two movies coming out in 2016 which are in post-production, according to IMDb--Pete's Dragon and Broken Vows. It is unknown if the actor is working on anything else this year, so he could conceivably return for season 6 of American Horror Story.
It remains to be seen if American Horror Story showrunner Ryan Murphy and company will want the actor to come back for the next season.
