With just about one more week remaining until CW's Vampire Diaries makes its highly anticipated return from a short hiatus, many fans are excitedly awaiting the aftermath of Elena's transformation from humanity.

According to TV Guide, Elena (Nina Dobrev) is set to have it out in an epic fight with Caroline (Candice Accola), who is undoubtedly going to have issues with her longtime pal's decision to go AWOL on the human race. However, unlike Elena, Caroline has consistently attempted to balance being a vampire while also keeping her humanity intact.

With the island storyline now a distant memory, and the Originals soon making an exit from Mystic Falls, the show is reportedly set to hone in on the character's livelihoods more, which is how they started out the series initially, states Carter.

Moving forward, the very next episode, which is titled Bring It On, will feature the Salvatore brothers trying to find a way to handle Elena's situation. They end up sending her back to high school with the hope that she'll be able to return to normalcy following the death of Jeremy. However, the normal routine seems to add more chaos when Elena rejoins the cheerleading squad and ends up literally eating the competition.

In the following Because The Night episode, Damon finally comes to the realization that sending Elena back to school wasn't the best idea. He then opts to take her out of school and bring her on a getaway trek to New York City. The weekend won't exactly be filled with romance, as Rebekah unexpectedly makes an appearance. Wet Paint reported that she'll find out that Elena has a secret agenda.

The Vampire Diaries is set to make its season four return on March 14 at 8 p.m. EST on the CW network. The trailer for episode 16 can be viewed below.
