'Dark Matter' Season 2: Episode 3 Title Revealed!
The Syfy drama will introduce Arax Nero this summer, and the role will be played by someone showrunner Joseph Mallozzi has worked with in the past.
"This will make five different shows I've cast him in (playing six different roles)," Mallozzi teased in early February. "You're going to love his character. Or hate him. Or love-hate him. We'll see how it goes."
Dark Matter' Season 2: Dark Alleys & Snow Covered Forests, Where Are Five, Nyx & Three Heading?
While we scoured IMDb till the wee hours of the morning, we failed to come up with someone who fits all the criteria. Thanks to an intrepid fan, however, it appears Mike Dopud might be the man we've been looking for. When asked about the casting, Mallozzi said it is "a mighty fine educated guess."
Dopud previously portrayed Varro in Mallozzi's SGU Stargate Universe, Kiryk in Stargate: Atlantis, and both Odai Ventrell and Colonel Chernovshev in Stargate SG-1. The actor also had a turn in Transporter: The Series, and while Dopud wasn't in one of Mallozzi's four episodes, the writer could have had a hand in casting him. Transporter is the only dicey piece of the equation, but considering Dopud was recently filming in Toronto, Dark Matter's home base, there is a very good chance he will appear in season 2.
Do you think Dopud will make for a convincing "powerful prison boss and former underworld figure"? Sound off in the comments below!
