He seemed to be alive and coming back following the traumatic injury he suffered during Alexandria's being overrun, but Carl's (Chandler Riggs) life could still be in danger on The Walking Dead.

In an interview with Kevin and Bean, Norman Reedus, who portrays Daryl, discussed the midseason premiere of the show, which saw a big moment from the comics play out onscreen (slightly differently from how it did initially) and caught Carl losing his eye after he was accidentally shot in the face. The end of the episode saw a tender moment where his father, Rick (Andrew Lincoln), encouraged his son to come back to him, as Carl's fingers grasped his father's hand.

But, Reedus cautions, just because Carl is alive right now doesn't mean fans should count on him to remain safe, because anything is possible on the show, and nothing should be taken for granted.

"Is there a one percent chance that Carl is dead?" Reedus was asked.

"Never say never," he replied.

Though Carl wouldn't likely die because of his injury, adjusting to another new life--this time one where he is literally without the ability to see from one eye--could have devastating effects going forward.

However, it is worth noting that in the comic book universe, Carl does lose the eye (and a chunk of his face), though he is still alive through the most recent issues.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on AMC.
