'Days of Our Lives' Cast News: Is Chandler Massey Returning As Will Horton Despite Character's On-Screen Murder? [PHOTO]
The legacy character was killed off during the 50th anniversary's serial killer plot, but a fan favorite actor could potentially be bringing Will Horton back to Salem on Days of Our Lives.
Chandler Massey, who portrayed the role from 2010-2014 before leaving the show and being replaced by Guy Wilson until Will's murder in October 2015, is rumored to be making a return to the soap in the role of Will.
The speculation began after Massey's former publicist, Jeffrey Ballard, posted on Facebook with a hint that Massey could be returning when he congratulated the show on being renewed for a 51st season.

"Congrats to Days of Our Lives and Executive Producer Greg Meng on the renewal by NBC for your 51st season!! However, I've been getting quite few calls about this--so for the record--I can neither confirm nor deny that my former client and good friend, three-time Daytime Emmy Award winning actor Chandler Massey will be returning to his role of Will Horton on Days of Our Lives later this year. I guess you will all have to keep watching!!" He wrote.
It's wonderful working with this special lady again after 30 years! #BethLujack #SalemRocks #Days50 Days of Our Lives

It came not long after a photo posted by Vincent Irizarry on his own Facebook page seemed to show Freddie Smith--who portrayed Will's husband, Sonny--in the background of the image, which could also hint that he too is headed back to Salem after initially leaving to get space from his failing marriage, and then to leave behind the painful memories when his husband was murdered.
If both Will and Sonny are returning to the show later this year (if Irizzary's photo is from the set it would be for a storyline for later this year since the show tapes six months in advance), it would be a major coup for Days, which suffered some criticism for how it handled the gay character storyline after being the first soap to have a groundbreaking gay couple's wedding on daytime TV.
Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
