Legends of Tomorrow pulled back the mask on Connor Hawke in "Star City 2046," and the series sent comic book readers for a loop.

Canonically Oliver Queen's (Stephen Amell) son, the latest iteration of the Arrow is not the Green Arrow's offspring. In a welcome twist (Amell's character already has a son), Hawke (Joseph David-Jones) is now the orphaned son of John Diggle (David Ramsey).

Legally named John Diggle Jr., the Emerald Arrow lost his father in the Uprising that turned Star City into the futuristic wasteland Rip Hunter crash into. In the wake of Dig's death and the alleged demise of Oliver, Connor changed his name and took up the bow.

"It just felt a little duplicative in light of the fact that this season we're doing a storyline about Oliver having a son, executive producer Marc Guggenheim said of the switch up, according to Entertainment Weekly. "As we were talking about it, quite frankly I forget who pitched the idea of, 'Wouldn't it be fun if this was Diggle's son?' but it seemed organic, especially since we took the idea of Oliver as the dad off the table."

While the events of Star City 2046 hopefully won't come to pass if the Legends complete their mission, David-Jones believes his character will pop up again.

"I think there is a strong possibility," the actor teased. "I'm talking to the writers about what they plan on doing as far as bringing me back as potentially a series regular or recurring for the show. Nothing has been decided."

Keep an eye out for Hawke when Legends of Tomorrow airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW. Next week, watch the Legends take on time pirates...
