Police in Danville, Va. made an announcement Tuesday that they charged a Moonshiners star with public intoxication.

Steven Ray Tickle, who goes by the name Tickle on the show, was arrested at a convenience store just before 3:00 p.m last Thursday. He was released later that day.

When police received a report of a man sitting in the parking lot of Charley's Stop and Shop drinking, they saw the 35-year-old man with an open container and smelling of alcohol. It was unclear as to whether Tickle had an attorney, according to The Washington Post.

TMZ reported that police tried to get someone to get him and take him home but he couldn't find anyone to do so.

"The goofy star of the reality show about moonshiners' attempts to evade the law to brew their illegal hooch was so drunk he had to be carried into the jail by cops," police told Virgina's WXII News, according to a report by the Daily News.

He was released later that day. The spokesman for Discovery Channel, which airs the show, tried to be contacted, but didn't return a call to comment.

Moonshiners features stories of people making the illegal brew. The website describes Tickle as "a hard working still hand who lives moonshine," said Fox News.
