Reigning Dancing With the Stars pro champion Derek Hough is sitting out of the upcoming spring season.

Are Antonio Brown & Paige VanZant About To Join 'Dancing With the Stars'?

Hough will not be competing in season 22 this spring, according to a new People report. This may be slightly surprising considering he just won the show with Bindi Irwin and has had great success over the years, but Hough is set to go through a whole new adventure.

The pro dancer is slated to have the lead role in an upcoming Broadway production of Singin' in the Rain, so it's possible that he is sitting out of DWTS to prepare. The production is expected to open in January 2017.

Derek Hough Talks Why It Was 'Time' For Julianne To Leave 'DWTS'

This will be the first Hough-less season of Dancing With the Stars in quite some time. Julianne Hough, his sister, has also exited her role as a judge ahead of season 22.

Meanwhile, the first official celebrity cast announcement was made on ABC's Good Morning America this morning. Fuller House star Jodie Sweetin is officially slated to compete in season 22. She has been paired with Keo Motsepe. Sweetin had previously been rumored to be signing on for the competition but an official announcement hadn't been made until now.

The rest of the season 22 cast of Dancing Wit the Stars will be announced on Tuesday, March 8 on Good Morning America.

Dancing With the Stars season 22 premieres Monday, March 21 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
