'Supernatural' Season 11: Are Those Renewal Rumors True? Execs Tease Season 12 Future [VIDEO]
The Supernatural Countdown app has jumped the gun.
The SPN Fandom had a brief moment of joy on Tuesday when the ever-popular app erroneously announced the series season 12 renewal. Those associated with the series were quick to clear up the mistake, taking to Twitter to confirm that The CW has not yet assured Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean's (Jensen Ackles) 2016-2017 futures.

Fans shouldn't lose heart; early renewals are rare, and Supernatural's season 12 chances will probably not be addressed until industry members present their fall slates to advertisers this May. In fact, CW President Mark Pedowitz is quite optimistic about the weekly spooker.
"My answer to Supernatural's [future], from the day I've gotten here—and I've been pretty consistent—is if they can keep telling stories and the numbers keep holding and the guys want to do it, we're going to try and keep going," Pedowitz said at the Television Critics Association winter press tour.
Supernatural is currently in the midst of a brief three-week hiatus. When the Winchesters return on March 23, they will get a blast from the past (see video below). Titled "Safe House," episode 16 will see season 5 versions of Bobby (Jim Beaver) and Rufus (Steven Williams) take on a dangerous foe as Sam and Dean battle the same monster in the present day. For those looking for a little Bobby/Winchester reunion, you should expect to see an interaction between apocalypse era Dean and Bobby.
Supernatural airs Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
