The stress of his being so entwined with his father's company has nearly threatened to tear their marriage apart multiple times, but Adam (Justin Hartley) and Chelsea (Melissa Clare Egan) may finally be ready to break free from Newman and leave Genoa City behind for good on The Young and the Restless.

After telling Chelsea what Victor (Eric Braden) was holding over him to keep him in the company and doing his bidding, which included doing things like transporting Luca (Miles Gaston Villanueva) out of town and other dirty deeds, Adam was freed from the blackmail. However, he still needed to find a way to prove to Chelsea that he was serious about leaving Newman entirely.

Now, after applying for a job in New York, Adam will be able to prove to his wife just how serious he was—after learning he got the job, meaning they can leave town for good and get out from the control Victor has always exerted over their lives.

"Oh my God!" Chelsea exclaims with excitement in a preview clip for the Friday, March 11 episode.

"I got the job!" Adam says. "This is it! No more Victor, no more Newman! We don't have to worry about it."

However, before the couple can truly plan on their escape, Victor will make one last attempt to try and get some control over his son again by summoning him to his hospital room and telling him he wants him to take over as the CEO of the company now that he's been ousted. However, Adam will refuse, and in a shocking move, walk away from his father.

The Young and the Restless airs Monday-Friday at 12:30 p.m. on CBS.
