Kate Mansi is preparing to leave her role as Abigail Deveraux on Days of Our Lives within the next few months, but the show's attempts to replace her have not yet panned out.

Mansi opted not to renew her contract at the end of last year, meaning she will be exiting the role this spring, but since Abigail is a front-burner character, the soap has been attempting to recast her-though it appears the effort to find someone for the role has not worked out yet, and the search is reportedly beginning once again.

Not long after Mansi's exit was announced, Days put out a casting call for a new role, "Val," who sounded like Abigail, with a description of a 24-28-year-old "gorgeous young professional" who has "already experienced great lover and great loss in her young life, which has left her strong spirit with a fragility she passionately protects." The character was also described as having a "determination to live and love as fearlessly as she can in the wake of all she has been through."

At the time, the possibility of the new role being a recast for Abigail was floated around due to the soap previously putting out calls for new characters named Danielle, Mason and Elijah, who never appeared on the canvas, but were later revealed to be code names for the SORAS'd characters of Ciara (Vivian Jovanni), Chase (Jonathan McClendon) and Theo (Kyler Pettis).

However, that casting call appears to have genuinely fallen through, and a new call has gone out, this time explicitly stating it is for the role of Abigail.

"She comes from a loving home, despite her father lack of consistency in her life," the new description reads. "Abigail looks innocent and young but can often seem more mature in essence than her 26 because of the difficulties she's experienced. She's made plenty of mistakes in her life, but she tries to learn from them and has compassion for others. She's fiercely loyal and protective of her family, and she has a spark and youthful joy that endears her to everyone she meets."

Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
