TVLine reported that The CW head Mark Pedowitz announced early renewals for some of the network's shows.
Arrow has been renewed with other shows like The Flash, The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, Jane the Virgin and iZombie. In a press statement Pedowitz spoke about the motivation behind renewing these shows.
"The CW has become home to some of the most critically-acclaimed shows on broadcast television, with a wide array of fantastic scripted series across the week, ranging from musical comedy, to superhero action, to gritty sci-fi dramas," Pedowitz said. "As we continue to further our strategy of more year-round original programming, picking up these 11 series for the 2016-2017 season puts us in a great position of having proven, high-quality shows to launch in the fall as well as midseason and summer of 2017."
In other recent news, the finale date of Season 4 of Arrow has finally been revealed and it's been pushed from what was initially projected.
The CW announced that this chapter of the series will be concluded on May 25. Previously, the finale date was being assumed as being set for May 11. This delay might have been caused by the brief hiatus the show is on, with the next episode airing on March 23.
Here's the official synopsis for the episode, 'Broken Hearts':
"A heartbroken Cupid (guest star Amy Gumenick) returns to Star City with one goal - to destroy anyone in love. The team learns she's killing couples on their wedding day so Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) decide to pose as bait."
In other news about the rest of this season, Supernaturals alum Madison McLaughlin will be guest starring on the show. Amell revealed via Twitter that McLaughlin was coming on board and that they had already become good friends.
TVLine has actually tried to figure out who McLaughlin might be playing, a teenage character, named Rebecca. The publication sourced a recent casting breakdown from The CW. She is described as a "smart, snarky" "escapee of a dangerous cult."
