'Awkward' Season 5B Premiere: Jenna's Homecoming Doesn't Go As Planned [VIDEO]
She went off to college in Maine and was separated from her friends and family for a whole year, but Jenna Hamilton is back in Palos Hills for the summer on Awkward-though being back home doesn't appear to be everything it's cracked up to be for her.
In a sneak peek clip for the season 5B premiere, it appears in fact that being away from her parents, Lacey (Nikki DeLoach) and Kevin (Mike Faiola) and her new baby sister may have wound up working against her, as no one seems to have noticed that she is, in fact, back at home.
The moment plays out with Jenna excited and happy to be back in her childhood bedroom, after a year away to start finding herself as an adult, something she's been proud of.
"my first year of college had been fantastic, even better than expected," Jenna says in the clip. "I was becoming the person I was always meant to be, and I was really liking that person."
Of course, despite loving college and the woman she's become, Jenna can't help but feel a glimmer of excitement as she walks down the hallway towards the kitchen and overhears her mother saying how much she misses her little girl-but when she enters and announces her arrival, she's in for a shock when her little sister begins to scream-and she sees, of all people, Lissa (Greer Grammer) in the kitchen with her parents.
And then, to make matters even more, well, awkward, when Jenna asks about why no one was awake when she came home the night before, she realizes it wasn't just a matter of her parents being tired while caring for the new baby.
"I didn't know Jenna was coming back today," Lissa says to Lacey
"Not today, last night. Very late," Jenna corrects. "Which is I guess why no one waited up."
"I'm sorry sweetie, we've just been so crazed," Lacey stammers.
"It was just...so late," Kevin adds.
"So..." Jenna says before it dawns on her. "You forgot."
Awkward season 5B premieres tonight at 10 p.m. on MTV.
Welcome home, Jenna!
