Pretty Little Liars' fans have a new name to ponder. Who is 'A.D.'?

Season 5B's big bad liked to sign off with emoji's rather than initials, but as of "Hush, Hush, Sweet Liars," the Liars' cloak and dagger nemesis has adopted A's old trick. It's no surprise considering A-moji is the villain we've all been waiting for.

"A.D. is Uber A," series creator Marlene King confirmed to Variety. "The girls early on will realize that this A.D. has uber capabilities and it's really the scariest 'A' of all."

Where Mona (Janel Parrish) and Charlotte saw tormenting the Liars as a game of torture, Uber A isn't messing around. This is one Rosewood resident who isn't afraid to pull the trigger. Watch out, Hanna (Ashley Benson). You're clearly in more danger than ever before.

If you're dying to know what 'A.D' stands for, you won't have long to wait. While it took two seasons to smoke out Mona and another three and a half to uncover the truth about Charlotte, the focus on Uber A will only last a season and a half. When Pretty Little Liars returns this summer, expect the clues to come fast a furious.

"There will be hints of it within the season. It's a roadmap, as we say," King teased. "There are a lot of twists of turns, but I will say that both of the Season 7 finales [midseason and ended] will be even more epic than what we watched last night."

So, who could 'A.D.' be? Tuesdays finale gave fans a whole host of new baddies to choose from. The visage of Mrs. D (Andrea Parker) popped up to scare Ali witless throughout the episode, and viewers can expect to see much more of Mary Drake now that she is a series regular. Elliot (Huw Collins) also turned out to be the manipulative slug we all originally thought he was. Both these characters - and anyone connected to them - hold pride of place in many recent theories.
