'Gilmore Girls' Netflix: The Verdict Is In! Melissa McCarty Reveals If Sookie Will Return [VIDEO]
Melissa McCarthy is a busy, busy woman.
We fell in love with the comedy star during her seven-season tenure as Gilmore Girls' Sookie St. James, but since then, the world has come to know her as the powerhouse behind Bridesmaids and Mike & Molly. Unfortunately, it's McCarthy's very popularity that will keep her from reprising the role of Star Hollow's most accident-prone chef.
"I don't think I am [returning," the actress confirmed to E! Online. "I didn't actually get asked to do it. But I think they thought I was busy, and then by the time it did come up, then I actually was."
After two months of rumors, it seems fans finally have the answer they've been dreading. Don't worry, however. Jackson (Jackson Douglas) will still be keeping the Connecticut town healthy with harvests of the very best veggies, and the couple's son Davey is even rumored to make an appearance.
So, how will series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino address the absence of Lorelai's (Lauren Graham) BFF? We certainly hope there isn't a divorce in store for Jackson. Perhaps the Dragonfly's head chef is merely on lone somewhere, spreading her culinary magic.
GG fans will be happy to hear that despite her Gilmore Girls: Seasons slight, McCarthy is still a big fan of the series. In fact, she's just as excited for the revival as we are.
"I'm actually thrilled that it's happening," McCarthy told E! Online. "I loved that show, and I think the fans for that show are super loyal and great and I will watch every single one of them."
After nine years off the air, Lorelai and Rory (Alexis Bledel) will bring their quick-witted banter to Netflix for a four-episode revival. Titled "Winter," "Spring," "Summer," and "Fall," the 90-minute installments will pickup in real time. A decade since the tumultuous events of season 7, Seasons will finally give viewers the oft rumored "last four words."
Scott Patterson (Luke), Keiko Agena (Lane), Yanic Truesdale (Michel), Kelly Bishop (Emily), Sean Gunn (Kirk), Jared Padalecki (Dean), Milo Ventimiglia (Jess), Matt Czuchry (Logan), and Liza Weil (Paris) are just some members of the original cast that will return alongside Graham and Bledel.
