There could be a major death storyline unfolding in the next few weeks, but low ratings could be affecting The Bold and the Beautiful's ability to tell more stories before that.

The soap hit a major low in viewers from February 29 to March 4, the lowest point it had hit in years, according to the Nielsen Live Plus Same Day ratings.

The report showed that the soap was down 244,000 viewers from the previous week and 287.000 compared to the same time in 2015, with a low 485,000 viewers in the coveted 18-49 demo, lower than the previous worrisome amount of 499,000 back in May 2011.

While all soaps were down for the week, B&B suffered the biggest fall in traffic, which could be worrisome for the soap's future.

Storylines have been fairly tame in recent months, with the exception of one involving Quinn (Rena Sofer) holding Liam (Scott Clifton) captive in her Topanga Canyon cabin, swearing to him that his name is Adam and her's was Eve, and that they were a married couple. Liam has believed it because he is suffering from amnesia. At the same time, his brother, Wyatt (Darin Brooks) has become engaged to his former fiancee, Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood), and the only one who is even slightly aware of Liam's current location and condition is Deacon (Sean Kanan). The storyline recently took a shocking turn when Quinn pushed Deacon off of a cliff in an effort to continue protecting her secret.

However, the soap has otherwise been very low-key with the drama, with the only other big storylines on the canvas involving Nicole's (Reign Edwards) and Caroline's (Linsey Godfrey) pregnancies, as well as Katie's (Heather Tom) breakdown that Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) was trying to steal Bill (Don Diamont). The breakdown storyline has been a bit of a rehash of the storyline a few years ago involving the same people, and the pregnancy storylines have been fairly drama-free as of late.

Of course, one bad week isn't going to preclude how things play out for the show, but if viewership continues to decline, there could be future problems down the road.

The Bold and the Beautiful airs Monday-Friday at 1:30 p.m. on CBS.
