Agents of SHIELD's Jemma Simmons is ready to make some changes.

It's been a tough year for the bio-chem genius. From unintended intergalactic forays to Hydra torture to accidently prompting Lash's biggest massacre to date, Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge)has had a lot on her plate both professionally and personally. While she battle's an irrational bought of guilt over Ward's latest transformation, the scientist will take up arms.

"She's going to feel so guilty, because it was her that aided that all to happen," Henstridge said of Hive's arrival, according to Entertainment Weekly. "If she hadn't of got sucked into the monolith, if she hadn't been on that planet, if Fitz hadn't risked everything to save her, he would never be back here...she definitely feels guilt for that."

Simmons' isn't known for her combat skills, but after her time on Maveth and the increasing Inhuman danger, May (Ming-Na Wen) will want SHIELD's less experienced agents to be field ready.

"[May] bonds with some of the less skilled but really smart characters on the show will change," Wen told TV Line. "She has a maternal role in wanting to protect them, because as things get more dangerous and heightened, she feels they need to learn some new skills."

What? Simmons' ability to knock out guards in "The Hub" isn't enough? Fitz (Iain DeCaestecker) and Simmons both certainly could have used a little extra combat training the moment they stepped on the bus three years ago. From infiltrating Hydra to taking on lone wolf missions, the pair would have been in infinitely less danger if they could whip out a few roundhouse kicks of their own. The idea of being part of Coulson's team is that there will always be someone to watch you back, but that concept is quickly disappearing as fires are becoming harder and harder to put out.

Find out what Simmons will do next when Agents of SHIELD airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC.
