'American Horror Story' Season 6 News: Will PaleyFest Reveal Title & Characters?
Many of the cast members from FX's American Horror Story are slated to appear at PaleyFest on Sunday, suggesting something big may be announced.
PaleyFest, an annual television festival, has traditionally become a forum for big announcements for American Horror Story in particular. The series has had a presence at the festival since the first season, and the series' producers and cast have taken the opportunity to make big statements about the upcoming season.
For example, the Asylum panel featured the big announcement that Coven would be the title for season 3 and that Kathy Bates would be involved. The Coven panel included news of Michael Chiklis joining the show for Freak Show. Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson were announced as joining the cast of Hotel at last year's Freak Show panel.
This year's PaleyFest panel for Hotel will include cast members Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates, Angela Bassett, Wes Bentley, Chloë Sevigny, Denis O'Hare, Cheyenne Jackson and Finn Wittrock. Executive producer Tim Minear will also be on the panel.
So far there has been very little news regarding season 6 of American Horror Story. Bassett is the only 100 percent confirmed cast member, though she did spill the beans in one interview that Paulson will be involved - which Paulson has not confirmed herself. Lady Gaga also said she will be back for a future season of American Horror Story but she did not specify which season exactly.
FX president John Landgraf told reporters at the TCA press tour this January that season 6 would take place in the present, with hints of the past. This is similar to the format of Coven, which primarily took place in present day New Orleans but sometimes featured scenes from the 1800s.
This is also breaking the pattern set by the show of alternating the time periods every other season. Seasons 1, 3 and 5 took place in the present while seasons 2 and 4 were in the past.
We should probably expect some big news from PaleyFest, so be sure to check Twitter around 10 p.m. ET on Sunday when the panel begins.
American Horror Story season 6 premieres this fall on FX.
