'Days of Our Lives' (DOOL) Cast News: Details About Daniel Cosgrove's Return Revealed, Debuting New Role? [PHOTO]
His character was killed off back in November after Bo heroically made it back to Salem in time to keep him from murdering Hope (Kristian Alfonso), but Daniel Cosgrove fans are sure to be delighted by the news that the actor will be headed back to Days of Our Lives later this year-and for a extended stay.
According to a fan site, Cosgrove's return is going to last for more than a few episodes, though it is unclear just how long he'll be around, or when the actor will be back on screen. However, he should be there long enough to satisfy fans who were devastated when his character got the axe.
What is also unclear is whether or not Cosgrove will come back as Aiden, or if he will debut in a new role.
Because Aiden was presumed dead after Bo shot him, if he returns as Aiden he would most likely need to come back as a ghost in that role, and would likely be around to visit and give some guidance to his son, Chase (Jonathan McClendon). However, Chase is currently sitting in a jail cell after he was arrested for raping Ciara (Vivian Jovanni), and if he remains there, his father' spirit visiting him seems more unlikely, since characters locked in jail cells for an extended period of time are rarely given screen time on the soap.
If it is a new character however, it could bring another refreshing twist to the show, which has been going through a bit of a rejuvenation since it began celebrating its 50th anniversary celebration last summer.
Not only did the show see several characters killed off in surprising ways, including a few major and legacy names, but it has also brought in some new additions with Deimos (Vincent Irrizary), Summer (Marie Wilson), a re-cast Phillip (John Paul Lavoisier), a re-cast Dario (Jordi Vilasuso), and a creepy turn by Tobin Bell as John's (Drake Hogestyn) long-lost biological father. If Cosgrove is bringing another new character to the mix, it would be interesting to see what role he plays.
Days of Our Lives airs Monday-Friday at 1 p.m. on NBC.
