Bloodline season 2 finally has an official release date on Netflix!

Season 2 of Bloodline will drop on Friday, May 27 on Netflix, the streaming service announced today. Netflix also released a brief plot description for the second season, teasing the further unraveling of the Rayburn family in the wake of the events of season 1.

The description reads:

"Season 2 begins with the Rayburn family struggling to conceal their unthinkable crime. Mysterious strangers from Danny's past arrive with a dangerous agenda. Law enforcement is closing in on the truth behind Danny's murder. And the tight-knit family's once harmonious relationship is poisoned by paranoia and mistrust as it slowly begins to unravel. Lies mount. Alliances are betrayed. Relationship are destroyed. With their backs against the wall, good people may have to do some very bad things..."

As Enstars reported in late February, local Florida Keys newspaper The Key West Citizen revealed that the show would return for season 2 in May but did not provide a specific date.

Season 1 dropped on March 20 last year, so by the time season 2 drops it will have been 14 months since many fans watched the last episode.

Bloodline has had huge impact on the tourism and economy of the Florida Keys since its presence there in season 1.

"It has a tremendous impact when you have a production like this in your community," said Rita Troxel, film liaison for the Florida Keys and Key West Film Commission. "It's fantastic exposure for tourism and beyond."

Jessica Bennett, a TDC director of marketing, added, "All of the Keys received a boost from the show."

There has been some speculation that this may be the final season of Bloodline due to some money and legislative issues in the Keys.

Bloodline script supervisor Kathryn Waters reportedly posted on Facebook about this recently.

"'Bloodline' has been able to shoot in the Keys for two seasons due to the availability of the last of the incentive monies made available by the Florida legislature," she wrote. "If new money is not made available in the [current] legislative session ... it is doubtful that 'Bloodline' will have a Season 3."
