There's been a ton of speculation about the upcoming sixth season of Game of Thrones, specifically concerning the fate of Jon Snow (Kit Harington), and whether or not Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham) and the Red Witch Melisandre (Carice Van Houten) will have something to do with a potential resurrection.

Since Snow was murdered by his fellow brothers of the Night's Watch in the season five finale last year, many speculated he would be brought back in the sixth season by Melisandre, who arrived at Castle Black shortly before his stabbing. Now, in a new interview with TV Line, Cunningham seems to suggest that a specific scene from the trailer could hold the key to that particularly popular bit of speculation.

The scene, which features Davos apologizing for not being much of a fighter in a scene with two members of the Night's Watch, Snow's dead body, and his direwolf, Ghost, is one he refers to as a "mic drop" moment, and he reveals that there will be a very specific threat that his character will address while he's still at Castle Black.

"Well, if you think about this logically, let me help you out here," he said. "Where we leave this, with Jon being dead, there's still a few of his loyal people around that certain parties in Castle Black are not going to want to have around...There's a threat implicit in the thing. I'm obviously in some way about to defend of attack or whatever it may be. It's evidently still Castle Black, Ghosts's there. So there is a certain threat there, but who it comes from would be remiss of me to inform you."

And though fans are likely getting a bit weary of major characters meeting their end on the show, Cunningham does warn that several members of the cast will be gone before the season's end, possibly even more than have ever been killed off before in a single season.

"There's some very different stuff," he said. "There's quite a few new people. There's quite a few people going this year—as there is every year, to be fair. I'm not peaking out of shop when I say that. But I was astonished at the numbers."

That comment in particular could mean a rather large number of current front-burner characters will meet their ends in the season—which previously teased major death with a preview showing all of the major character's faces in the House of Black and White's Hall of Faces. Both seasons four and five saw at least eight major characters die, or appear to, over their combined 20 episode run. If Cunningham's comment indicated the most deaths yet, it could be the bloodiest season overall.

Game of Thrones season 6 premieres Sunday, April 24 at 9 p.m. on HBO.
