It's time to say good-bye to Mr. Derek Morgan.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Shemar Moore, who's known for playing the detective on Criminal Minds for 11 years, has decided to leave the series, reports E! News. The latest episode showed the character leaving the BAU to focus on his family.

Considering that Derek has had a rough ride after his abduction and torture, using his next chance at life for his wife and son may not be the worst idea.

In an interview with TV Line, Moore opened up on his decision to leave the series, saying that he feels like there's more out there for him and his career.

"I didn't direct, I didn't write, but I grew, and I'm leaving because I want to continue to grow as an actor," Moore said. "I'm leaving to see what else I'm capable of."

It turns out that acting isn't the only thing that Moore wants to focus on- he wants to concentrate on his personal life as well.

"I need balance in my life," he said. "I love what I do for a living, I love it from 'action' to 'cut,' but I also want to walk my dogs, travel, get married, have kids. I want balance, and it's hard to do with the schedule that we have."

The actor then noted how he cares deeply for the fans even though it's an emotional way to say farewell.

"When those elevator doors close, they're going to cry, they're going to be mad, they're going to scream at their TVs," Moore said. "But hopefully they're going to feel my heart in the sense of this was important to me, and it's my thank you back to them. It's definitely a hug to my Criminal Minds family."
