Bob Newhart Big Bang Theory Appearance Confirmed for May; To Play Professor Proton, Sheldon Cooper's Favorite Science Show Host [VIDEO]
Bob Newhart will be starring in The Big Bang Theory for an episode featuring in May, according to The Huffington Post.
The star of the Bob Newhart Show will play Professor Proton, the former host of Sheldon's favorite science show.
The episode, scheduled to air on May 2, will feature Sheldon's conducting an online search for the TV host, who will be played by Newhart. When he finds Professor Proton, Sheldon finds out the man can be booked for events, and decides to invite him over to his house.
Newhart performed in ER in 2003, Desperate Housewives in 2005, and NCIS in 2011, but the show host, a six-time Emmy winner has rarely been seen on television over the last few years.
In a January episode of the show, Sheldon managed to anger someone in the Human Resources department, who was played by guest star Regina King.
"All women are slaves to their biological urges, ya know?" Sheldon had explained after he got himself into a sticky situation with his assistant Alex (Margo Harshman) and Leonard (Johnny Galecki). "Even you. You're a slave," he said.
Hopefully Sheldon will show off a more mature and respectful manner while in the presence of one of his childhood heroes.
