'The Night Shift' Season 3 Premiere Date: Explosions, SWAT Teams & Major Departures; Latest Scoop On June Return [PHOTOS]
When night falls, duty calls for The Night Shift docs. On June 1, the midnight denizens of San Antonio Medical Center will punch their time card for season 3.
The NBC drama closed out its sophomore run with a mix of tear-jerking tragedies and heartwarming romances, but no matter what ending befell your favorite character last summer, they'll be back in the trenches during the premiere (see video below). And for some, that phrase will be quite literal.
A six-month time jump will put Drew (Brendan Fehr) back in Afghanistan, this time with Doctor Syd Jennings (Jennifer Beals). Although their deployment will be nearing an end, life overseas will get a little hairy before the newlywed gets to jump a plane back home.

Back at the hospital, the ER will bid farewell to another series regular. Freddy Rodriguez (Ragosa) was onset for the premiere, but the actor has since confirmed his departure.

It's a good thing Jordan will recruit Dr. Shannon Rivera (Tanaya Beatty) into the ER. Spunky and outspoken, Shannon will undoubtedly come in handy as the Night Shift deals with car fires and SWAT teams.
