'Law and Order SVU' Season 17 Spoilers: 'Everybody Loves Raymond''s Brad Garrett To Guest Star In Finale [VIDEO]
Everybody Loves Raymond alum Brad Garrett is set to guest star in Season 17 of Law & Order: SVU.
According to a Deadline report, the actor will be playing Gary Munson, "a corrections officer at Rikers who maintains his reputation as a hardworking family man, but hides a long history of corruption and violence against female inmates, both inside and out of prison."
In news of other guest stars on the show, it was recently revealed that Detective Munch (Richard Belzer), who left after Season 15, will be guest starring in an episode, entitled 'Fashionable Crimes,' set to air in May. According to the report, the detective will be brought back to help out with a case dealing with a young model who accuses a famous photographer of abuse. This episode seems like it has been picked from the headlines, i.e. the recent Terry Richardson controversy.
The show's executive producer Warren Leight also spoke about having Belzer back.
"We love having Richard back on set," Leigh said. "This episode was perfect for Munch's cynical eye, and just the right time for him to give Benson [Mariska Hargitay], and Noah, some much needed support."
In other recent news, a small mystery that has always gnawed at fans was finally addressed. Fans always wanted to see Detective Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) get romantically involved with each other while Meloni was still on Law & Order: SVU.
Alas, that wish was never granted in the 12 seasons of Meloni being around, but the actor at least has an answer for fans now.
In his recent appearance on James Lipton's Inside the Actor's Studio he revealed why they never quite pursued a romantic relationship.
"She was always ready for anything new...There was always an unspoken shorthand to what we were doing. That makes it just so much easier, and off camera as well," Meloni said. "There's a lot to be said for that when you're working with someone for 16 hours a day, you better get along when the cameras aren't rolling as well as when it is. That was priceless, I think for both of us."
The latest episode, entitled 'Sheltered Outcasts,' aired on March 30.
