It's beginning to look like Agents of SHIELD's quinjet explosion is set in stone.

Daisy (Chloe Bennet) and Co. spent "Spacetime" attempting to prove FitzSimmons' theory of fate wrong, and, unfortunately for Charles (Bjorn Johnson), the team accidentally bungled straight into the events of her vision. Now that the writers have tied the midseason premiere flash forward into the premonition storyline, Daisy is busy trying to puzzle her way out of an interstellar explosion.

"Now that she has seen this, she has to live with the weight on her shoulders that there is a dangerous reality that could come at any time - and she can't change this," the Agents of SHIELD writers told Entertainment Weekly.

There is one saving grace, however. Daisy didn't actually see the victim of the explosion, which means there is always a chance it's not someone form Coulson's (Clarke Gregg) team. Despite the presence of Elena's (Natalia Cordova-Buckley) necklace and a SHIELD uniform, we're holding out hope that there's some integral detail that will keep the season from ending in tears.

At least fans won't have to wait until the finale to start unraveling the mystery.

"Obviously we won't say much about it. The visual is designed to get you asking questions. I think that will become clear later in the season what exactly we're promising, but I don't think that flash forward bodes well," executive producer Jed Whedon teased, according to Entertainment Weekly. Fellow showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen promised that the series "will be peeling back the details and layers of that vision as we go for the back half."

In the meantime, Coulson's team will continue to deal with Hive in "Paradise Lost" (see a preview below)

"S.H.I.E.L.D. hunts for information on their dangerous new enemy, and a shameful secret from Malick's past is exposed, threatening to destroy his Hydra legacy," ABC teased.
