The Blacklist has a brand new single parent, and it's not at all who we would have expected.

---MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD---

Tom Keen (Ryan Eggold) was looking forward to starting fresh with Liz (Megan Boone) and their little baby girl, but, in true Blacklist fashion, the walls came tumbling down as Lizzie's pulse slowed to a stop in "Mr. Solomon: Conclusion."

Set to move to The Blacklist's nascent spinoff, the spy is now a single father. For all those fans still scraping their jaws off their living room floors, Eggold is right there with you.

"I was as shocked as I think the fans are!" the actor revealed to TV Line. "I have loved working with Megan, especially as we explored the complicated dynamic in Liz and Tom's relationship. I'm incredibly curious to see how this deep cut affects Tom's understanding of the world and what this means for the future of their daughter."

NBC has not commented on Boone's future with the series. Die-hard viewers know that things are not always quite what they seem when Red (James Spader) is involved. In other words, don't write Liz off quite yet. The Blacklist skillfully weaved Boone's real-life pregnancy into the season 3 storyline, and they would be remiss if they didn't factor in a little maternity leave as well.

For now, however, Tom and the Post Office team will have to return to their lives without her. Find out how Liz's friends will attempt to move on in next week's "Artax Network."

"After an unexpected loss devastates the FBI task force, they must track down their assailants; a mysterious group whose agents operate using a worldwide satellite network," NBC teased.
