‘The Good Wife’ Season 7 Spoilers: Alan Cumming Had Planned On Leaving In The Sixth Season [VIDEO]
Alan Cumming, who plays Eli Gold, in The Good Wife, didn't actually intend on sticking around in the series until the final season.
In a recent interview, Cumming revealed his plans of quitting the show in Season 6 itself.
Speaking to The New York Post's Page Six, Cumming also added that this Season was definitely his last, regardless of the show's discontinuation. "I decided it was time to go," he said, "I wanted to leave last season, but then they said they were going to give me more to do and I'm really glad I stayed on because I think it's been a great season for Eli."
The actor also revealed what motivated his decision, the fact that the creators Robert and Michelle King were planning on leaving the series after this season anyway.
"For me, being in the show has always been about their writing and this great tone they have," he said, "I've kind of been in a longer gestation of mourning than other people."
Season 7 of the show finally wrapped filming recently and some of the cast members like Julianna Margulies, Cush Jumbo and guest stars like Matthew Morrison posted images from the set while bidding adieu. Cumming also posted a funny clip via Instagram with the Kings. In the video, the actor asked the Kings if they had anything to say to him, to which they mock fired him!
The finale of Season 7 will air on May 8.
