Nyle DiMarco recently admitted that he had "bad dreams" when he was first asked to be on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

DiMarco has made a huge impression on Dancing With the Stars so far. The America's Next Top Model winner, who also happens to be completely deaf, has turned into one of the frontrunners to possibly win the Mirrorball trophy.

But the model was very unsure about doing the show at first. DiMarco admitted this in a new interview with InTouch this week.

"When they asked me to be on the show, I was scared! I had bad dreams about it. I was like, 'Can I do this?!'" he said.

However, he noted, "I've always thought I could do anything. Growing up, my mom used to say 'challenge' was my middle name. I sailed the whole East Coast. I traveled the world alone. Being deaf doesn't make a difference to me."

DiMarco also said that this is new for him, though he's "never felt any barriers or limitations - and I love a challenge!"

And even though DiMarco is able to hear the vibration of the music if it's turned up loud enough, he prefers to be guided by his pro partner, Peta Murgatroyd.

"During rehearsal, we turned the music up and I felt the vibration, but I wasn't used to it and felt off," he said. "So I prefer not to hear anything at all. I just let my partner, Peta [Murgatroyd], hear everything, and she can lead me."

Thus far in the competition, DiMarco has an average score of 23.3 out of 30, which puts him at third place in the overall leaderboard. For the upcoming Switch-Up, in which the celebs switch pro partners for a week, DiMarco will be dancing with Sharna Burgess. It remains to be seen if DiMarco will still excel with a totally new partner.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
