'Secrets and Lies' Season 2 Premiere Date: ABC Leaves Series Off Summer Schedule, Was It Canceled? [PHOTO]
More frustrating news for Secrets and Lies fans as the highly anticipated second season of the show has once again been pushed off by ABC.
The network has released its summer schedule, and after initially not putting the anthology mystery series on deck for the winter break, or for later this spring, it was expected that the show would be given a timeslot during this summer. However, once again, it has been left completely off the schedule.
ABC will be welcoming back other programs this summer, like Mistresses and Bachelor in Paradise, and will also premiere the shows 500 Questions, O.J.: Made in America-Part 1, To Tell the Truth, Uncle Buck, BattleBots, Celebrity Family Feud and The $100,000 Pyramid.
It is unclear why Secrets and Lies was left off the schedule once again, especially after series creator Barbie Kligman seemed sure on social media that a premiere date was about to be announce, assuring fans in a series of tweets that they would hear something soon.
"I can say with absolute certainty that there will be a season 2. As for when, you will hear something soon," she wrote to one fan April 18.
She followed that up with a series of other tweets which suggested that fans were about to learn the show was coming back soon. And while she never said that it would premiere this summer, it did seem likely the series would be back sooner rather than later.
However, as Deadline notes, the decision to leave it off of the summer schedule could mean the network is eyeing it for the Fall instead, which would mean the show getting a slot there could make it the first one officially picked up for the season. However, it's status there could also depend on whether ABC plans on renewing some of their other shows which are still currently running during the fall season, or whether or not they plan on picking up any other new shows as well.
Season two of the show brings back Juliette Lewis's Detective Andrea Cornell as she investigates a new murder mystery. Michael Ealy plays Eric Warner, the new prime suspect as Cornell investigates the murder of his wife, Kate, portrayed by Jordana Brewster.
