The Michigan Wolverines beat the Kansas Jayhawks, 87-85, in a surprising comeback that lead to overtime on Friday night

The number one seeded Jayhawks dominated, leading the Wolverines by 5 points with just 21 seconds left in the game, according to ESPN.

But Michigan sophomore Trey Burke, point guard, controlled the second half with his three-pointers. He earned 21 points total in the second half and overtime. He was scoreless in the first half.

"In the second half, coach told me to be more aggressive, so I looked for my shot more," he said, according to ESPN.

Burke tied the game for overtime play with a three-pointer shot with just 4.2 seconds left. He got the ball after Elijah Jonson of the Jayhawks missed his free throw and Michigan got the rebound.

According to The Detroit Free Press, the shot made by Burke was a 30-footer.

The Wolverines will play the Florida Gators in the Elite 8 on Sunday at 2:20 p.m. The only number one seeded team left are the Louisville Cardinals, who play the Duke Blue Devils on Sunday at 5:05 p.m.

Kansas coach Bill Self said of the loss to Michigan, "Well, this will certainly go down as one of the toughest games that obviously we've been a part of and I've been a part of."

He continued, "But props to Michigan for making all the plays late."

Burke is the fifth player in NCAA history to scoreat least 20 points and have at least 10 assists in a Sweet 16 game.

He said, according to ESPN, "We never had the mindset that we were going to lose the game. When we were down 14, we knew anything could still happen." Michigan was down by 14 points when there were just seven minutes left in the second half.

"It's March, anything can happen," he said.
