The wait is nearly over as AMC's Mad Men season 6 is set to launch this Sunday with a two-hour premiere.

The AMC network had released the following synopsis for the first episode, which is titled The Doorway:

"Don spearheads a new campaign; Roger gets unsettling news; Betty takes in a houseguest."

Although he's indeed notorious for remaining discreet when it comes to upcoming spoilers on the popular series, showrunner Matthew Weiner did speak to Entertainment Weekly and addressed the story arc moving forward for the upcoming season.

"The whole story of the season is the answer to 'Are you alone?' It does not have to do with those women at the bar. It doesn't mean lonely," he said.

Weiner had also offered some input to The New York Times, stating that the show "will advance in time, as it does. I can't say how much or how little."

While the showrunner refused to get into specifics, he did address the character development of Don Draper (Jon Hamm), who will experience a real relationship, which may not turn out as expected.

"We're coming off a period in Don's [Draper] life where he's trying to normalize, and trying to have this relationship - a real relationship with this woman [Megan] that he fell in love with. She expressed her desires [to return to acting] and that was a surprise for him. On this show, it's very rich, full orchestra, and we like to follow what is the next stage in these people's lives."

Mad Men season 6 is set to kick off on Sunday, April 7 at 9 p.m. EDT on the AMC network. An extended sneak peek can be viewed below.
