WWE Smackdown Spoilers For April 5 Taping [Show Before 'Wrestlemania,'] Details
With WWE's biggest pay-per-view of the year set to take place in a mere four days, the company decided to switch things up and tape Friday Night Smackdown on Monday in Washington, D.C. before Raw.
Due to its crammed schedule, the WWE brass made the decision to just feature two matchups along with one promo on the weekly show. The remainder of the Friday night show will be done throughout the rest of the week, stated Bleacher Report.
In one of the matchups, Ryback was victorious against Primo and Epico in a match that he's all too familiar with, a handicapped one. The respective scenario is one in which the WWE utilized early on in order to build up his character, as he'd take on two local talents at once throughout last summer.
Ryback is on the Wrestlemania card against Mark Henry, which is why they're attempting to build up his strength since he'll be taking on The World's Strongest Man.
In a tag team bout, Team Rhodes Scholars along with the Bella Twins heavily poked fun at Funk and Funkadactyls. Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes cut a promo on Brodus Clay and Tensai, as they dressed up like their Wrestlemania opponents. That was until Brodus, Sweet T, Cameron and Naomi enacted their revenge.
In what seemed to be the main event of the shortened card, The Real American Jack Swagger defeated Kofi Kingston. Since returning to the WWE, Swagger has been pushed as a dominant force behind his new mouthpiece of sorts, Zeb Colter.
In an attempt to garner Swagger some well-needed heat prior to his Mania match with Alberto Del Rio, the WWE pitted him against Kofi. Swagger won the bout via submission, courtesy of his Patriot Act ankle lock.
