'The Flash' Season 2: Did Jesse & Wally Get Their Powers? EP Dishes On Potential Speedsters [VIDEO]
The Flash's Partial Accelerator Explosion 2.0 went off just as we all expected - absolutely terribly. No one was affected quite as much as Barry (understatement of the year), but Wally West and Jesse Quick sure received a healthy dose of dark matter in the process.
It's the moment fans have been waiting for since The CW first announced Wally (Keiynan Lonsdale) and Jesse's (Violett Beane) casting. Canonically, both characters are speedsters in their own right. In the DC TV universe, however, neither received a blast to flip the switch on their metahuman futures. Until now, that is.
You shouldn't expect to see Central City to become overrun with speedsters, however.
"Right now, the show is called The Flash," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly. "For the most part, Barry Allen is the only Flash. Obviously there [are] expectations for both of their characters; whether or not they're realized is part of the fun and joy of watching the show. It will never be Spider-Man and his amazing friends, it'll always be The Flash."
Whether on Earth-1 or Earth-2, both Cisco (Carlos Valdes) and Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker) have lived up to their namesakes. We expect Wally and Jesse will as well, but it's unknown weather or not they would remain in Central City. Jesse has another Earth to attend to, after all. As far as fans are concerned, it would be a crushing blow to see either of them. Their stories are only just starting to unfold.
In the meantime, the STAR Labs team has a far more pressing problem to attend to. Barry (Grant Gustin) pulled a horrifying disappearing act at the end of "Rupture," and everyone will be focused on pulling him out of the Speed Force during "The Runaway Dinosaur" (see a preview below).
"With Barry (Grant Gustin) gone, the team must figure out a way to handle the return of an old enemy - Girder (guest star Greg Finley). Realizing Girder is retracing his steps from his last attack, Iris (Candice Patton) volunteers to act as bait to trap him in S.T.A.R. Labs," The CW teased. "Meanwhile, Barry fights to return to his old life."
The Flash airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on The CW.
