'Dragon Ball Super' News: Trunks To Go Super Saiyan Blue? [VIDEO]
Fans of the massive Dragon Ball Super were treated to a whole lot of updates from Akira Toriyama and Toei Entertainment on Monday, as the creator of Dragon Ball himself dropped a huge announcement for the series' upcoming arc, in the form of the return of Future Trunks and the mention of the next arc's main enemy, Black Goku.
Unsurprisingly, Dragon Ball fans exploded with the announcement, with many getting extremely hyped about the return of one of the franchise's most loved and powerful characters. After all, since his initial appearance in Dragon Ball Super, fans have been clamoring for his return. Well, now it's happening, and it seems like he will return in the most epic way possible.
One thing that has stood out in the announcement so far, however, is Future Trunk's new design for the upcoming arc. From the sketches revealed by the creators of the ongoing anime, Future Trunks seems somewhat older and a lot more mature than his previous appearances. Of course, this change in appearance could have been brought about by the post-apocalyptic world that he once more came from.
Considering that Future Trunks would be coming from a world ravaged by an enemy only known as Black Goku, his battle-scarred appearance is quite unsurprising.
Perhaps most interesting about Future Trunk's redesign, however, is the color of his hair. Instead of his trademark purple hair, which he has adopted since he first appeared in Dragon Ball Z decades ago, the Future Trunks' design for the upcoming arc shows his hair as blue.
While the hair color change might simply be an aesthetic modification from the series' creators, it might also be a foreshadowing for Future Trunks' capabilities, especially since his hair color is almost the exact same shade of blue as the one featured in Goku and Vegeta's hair when they turn into their most powerful forms, the iconic Super Saiyan Blue.
Considering that Trunks would most probably return as a much more powerful fighter than before, this would be quite unsurprising. Of course, it would be pretty interesting to see how he learned to reach Super Saiyan Blue, if he is indeed able to.
Dragon Ball Super's new arc is set to begin on June 12, immediately after the conclusion of the series' current arc, which centers on the God of Destruction, Champa, and a tournament between universes.
