'American Horror Story' Season 6: Should Connie Britton Return After 'Nashville' Cancellation? [VIDEO]
Now that ABC has cancelled Nashville, will Connie Britton show up on American Horror Story again?
ABC announced on Thursday that Nashville has been cancelled after four seasons. Britton has starred in the country music primetime soap since 2012, keeping her busy through most of the year, so this should give her more freedom to pursue other projects.
So will Britton return to American Horror Story anytime soon? That much is unclear, though the actress did have a good experience starring in the show's first season. She even nabbed an Emmy nomination for her performance as the tormented Vivien Harmon.
Britton has expressed her desire to return to American Horror Story someday.
The actress appeared at a Television Academy panel dedicated to the women of American Horror Story last March, where she was asked if she would ever come back.
"Of course I would," Britton replied. "I would love to come back, but scheduling is tricky."
Britton also discussed what drew her in to have a role in the first season.
"The thing that [co-creator Ryan Murphy] said to me was, 'You can take my word for it that you will not be doing anything that you've been doing for the last five years on this show.' And that appealed to me a lot," she said.
This isn't the only time Britton has worked with Murphy. The actress played Faye Resnick in American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, where Murphy was an executive producer.
Very little has been revealed about the sixth season of American Horror Story, even the concept itself. Many of the regular cast members are expected to return, like Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett.
American Horror Story season 6 is set to premiere this fall on FX.
