'Thor Ragnarok' Cast: THIS Character To Link To 'Infinity War'? Marvel Reveals Four New Role [VIDEO]
Marvel's latest round of Thor: Ragnarok casting has fans buzzing over a precived tie in to The Avengers: Infinity War.
The Collector and Thanos are hardly the only interstellar beings itching to lay a finger on the Infinity Stones. Created by the Cosmic Entities, the power of the gems is known throughout the nine realms. Marvel's decision to bring the Grandmaster into Ragnarok could be a top of the hat to his own history with Death, Infinity, Eternity, and Entropy's little gifts.
Next year, Jeff Goldblum (Independence Day, Jurassic Park, those apartment.com commercials) will take on the role of the eccentric gambler and gamming extraordinaire. As an Elder of the Universe, The Hollywood Reporter reports that Grandmaster will share the Collector's fascination with the Stones.
Canonically, Grandmaster briefly possessed the Mind Stone before loosing it to Thanos. While the yellow jewel is currently safely in the possession of Vision, there is a good chance the MCU could use the character's history to establish a link between the 2017 film and the Avenger's next outing.
Grandmaster wasn't he only character announced on Friday, however. Ragnarok will also introduce Cate Blanchett (the Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies, Carol) as the villainous Hela, Tessa Thompson (Creed, Selma) as the heroic Valkyrie, and Karl Urban (Almost Human, Star Trek Into Darkness, Dredd) as Skurge the Executioner.
Featuring both Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and the Hulk/Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), the November 2017 production will film this summer in Australia. While Thor tends to hope between Earth and Asgard, the demigod will branch out in Ragnarok.
"There are only a couple of scenes on Tierra in this movie," Marvel Studios' Kevin Feige told Empire: Film. "80 to 90 percent takes place in the cosmos."
