'Outlander' Season 2: Did The Comte Deserve To Die? Stanley Weber Weighs In On St. Germain's Demise [VIDEO]
Ding-dong, Outlander's Comte St. Germain is gone.
Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) are ready to wrap up their time in Paris, and, after a series of incredibly unfortunate events, they have one less reason to watch their backs. The Comte (Stanley Weber) is dead thanks to Master Raymond (Dominique Piñon), and fans aren't the only ones who think he deserved every painful moment of his surprise demise.
While Weber believes his character had every reason to seek revenge against the woman who cost him an entire ship, the actor thinks St. Germain enjoyed the game just a little too much.
"Once I started to go on this rage and this journey of vengeance and really, really bad things, I was asking myself, well, actually I think this guy is enjoying the challenge," Weber told E! Online.
In fact, even as he was dying, Weber believes the Comte was thinking admiring Claire's talent as a rival.
"I think he sees [Claire and Jamie] as good enemies, good people to be fighting against, so I think there is a sort of like almost unhealthy excitement about it, about fighting those two and trying to do some terrible things to them," the actor explained. "So when it comes to that last scene and he gets stuck in this thing, I guess yeah, that's fair enough, and he looks at her and he's like, well played. You beat me, and I wouldn't think that anyone could beat me."
Do you think the Comte deserved to die, or should he have landed behind bars? Sound off in the comments below!
