'Orphan Black' Season 4: How Felix Became The Hero We Needed, EP Talks Episode 7
Orphan Black has birthed its own hero.
Felix (Jordan Gavaris) entered season 4 questioning his role on Team Sestra. Suddenly the only foster child in Mrs. S's (Maria Doyle Kennedy) clan, Felix took a moment to reassess his world. As of episode 7, however, artist has proved that he's not only the best brother Sarah (Tatiana Maslany) could ask for, but he's also an indispensable member of the Clone Club.
"The Antisocialism of Sex" found Sarah and Cosmia (Tatiana Maslany) reeling in the wake of utter devastation. The deadly events of "The Sandal of Altruism" set their mission back in more way than one. As one clone contemplated suicide, the other prepared to risk her life in an effort to understand Neolution's mysterious tech.
In swoops Felix, pulling Cosmia back from the edge as he races to keep Sarah off the tracks.
"He's trying to save them all and somehow he manages to do it," series co-creator John Fawcett told Entertainment Weekly. "That's the part that gets me. I've seen this episode I don't know how many times and every time Felix is in the car talking Cosima off the ledge there and saying, 'Cosima, you can do this. You're not alone' - it gets me every single time emotionally. It's really Felix that has to step in with the two girls and go, 'Hey, you two, smarten the hell up! We can do this!'"
Is Felix right? Do the sestras have what they need to find a cure and face off with Neolution? Find out as season 4 winds down! Next week BBC America will air "The Redesign of Natural Objects" before closing out the run with "The Mitigation of Competition" and "From Dancing Mice to Psychopaths."
