Sorry, Gilmore Girls fans. It doesn't look like you'll see a heck of a lot of Dean Forester in the revival.

Rory's (Alexis Bledel) high school beau will return to Stars Hollow during Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, but, due to Jared Padalecki's busy Supernatural schedule, it sounds as if Dean will only be passing through.

Padalecki had to do a little juggling to make it to LA for filming (Supernatural, now going into its 12th season, shoots in Vancouver), but series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino was more than willing to accommodate his tight schedule.

"She basically said, 'Listen, we're going to write you a really cool scene and if you get a day off let us know we will just put your scene on the schedule for that day. It's a set that we already run and own [and] it's an actress that already is working every day, so let us know," Padalecki previewed at Rome's Jus in Bello convention.

Despite playing a major role in seasons 1 through 4, Dean disappeared midway through season 5. While the departure was heralded by Padalecki's Supernatural casting, the actor found the transition bittersweet.

"When I stopped doing Gilmore Girls, it was abrupt...One day I was an actor on Gilmore Girls and the next day I had a TV show and would never again be on Gilmore Girls," the actor explained.

His revival scene, which will take place in Doose's Market, gave the 33-yar-old father of two a chance to wrap up Dean's arc "in a really cool way."

Dean won't be the only one of Rory's past loves to saunter back into the Netflix series. Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and Logan (Matt Czuchry) will also return, and they'll each stick around for more than one episode.

Netflix will debut Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life later this year.
