'The Flash' Season 3: Tom Cavanagh Always Looking To 'Put On The Suit', Will He Be A Villain Once More?
Get ready to see another iteration of The Flash's Harrison Wells.
For the second year in a row, the Flash season finale left viewers wondering if Tom Cavanagh was gone for good. Earth-2's Harry returned to his home universe following Zoom's defeat, but, just as Reverse Flash's demise didn't deter the actor's return following season 1, Well's trip back through the breach won't keep Cavanagh from returning a series regular in season 3.
"Details on next season are being kept tightly under wraps, but I can tell you that Tom Cavanagh will be back as a series regular for season 3," Entertainment Weekly reported on Friday. "Consider this: If the show does indeed move forward with Flashpoint, then the Reverse-Flash never killed Earth-1 Harrison Wells and his wife, meaning we could see the original Wells next season. Maybe. Hopefully."
Barry (Grant Gustin) used the final moments of "The Race of His Life" to change the worst night of his life, thus altering the time stream in ways he can only begin to imagine. Cavanagh played the kind-heart, optimistic E-1 Wells once before, but the role lasted mere hours as a stranded Thawne quickly assumed his identity. While we'd all like to see the original Wells in action, the actor is itching to don the Reverse Flash's signature black and yellow once more.
"I've enjoyed this season as Harrison Wells of Earth-Two. I signed on as the Reverse Flash, so for me, I'm just always looking for the opportunity to put on the suit," Cavanagh told Emmys.com. With the STAR Labs team standing for everything that's good in the world, the actor believes you also need "the negative attributes. You need the dark to let the light in, and let the comic book world come alive. Overall, I think the show functions best when you have that antagonism and I'm happy to be the guy to provide that."
