Person of Interest is putting Finch on the chopping block in its explosive 100th episode.

The CBS drama is nearing a deadly series finale, but, before Team Machine reaches its inevitable conclusion, Person of Interest will first get to celebrate a milestone achievement. "The Day the World Went Away" will mark the drama's 100th hour, and it will have the Machine's creator running for his life.

"Finch's number comes up when a fatal error blows his cover identity and sets off a deadly series of escalating encounters with Samaritan's operatives," CBS teased.

Pushing the AI mastermind out into the open will help prime the character for his ensuing lone wolf act. Finch (Michael Emerson) will make a dangerous play to take down Samaritan in the final three episodes, and fans will be able to trace his new level of determination back to tonight's little adventure.

"We always wanted to explore another side to Michael Emerson's character, when he had finally had enough," co-showrunner Greg Plageman told TV Line.

Meanwhile, Root will find herself smack dab in the middle of the series' biggest fight scene to date.

"I've been dreaming about that action sequence for about five years, waiting for the right moment to toss it in there," co-showrunner Jonah Nolan teased. "The sniper-through-the-sun roof, cruise control, steer-the-car-with-your-four-inch-heeled boot maneuver is something that Root was destined for for an awfully long time."
