CBS' The Big Bang Theory will be making its season 6 return to the air in late April with a brand new episode, which is titled The Closure Alternative.

According to Carter Matt, its plotline is set to revolve around the backlash of one of Sheldon's (Jim Parsons) favorite TV series' getting the axe.

Fans will also reportedly be seeing their fair share of Raj (Kunal Nayyar) during the episode, as he gets closer to his new flame Lucy (Kate Micucci). However, he'll soon realize that his romantic interest is holding on to a secret.

The future Big Bang happenings should serve as an effective lead into the series' remaining three episodes of the current season.

In other news pertaining to the sitcom, TV Line reported that legendary actor Bob Newhart, 83, will be appearing on the series' May 2nd episode, marking the very first appearance on a sitcom by an actor in over a decade.

The site also stated that he'll be playing what's described as "the show's version of Bill Nye the Science Guy.

Professor Proton was one of Sheldon's favorite programs as a child. Therefore, when he finds out that the man (played by Newhart) is now offering his services for events, he makes the decision to take advantage of the opportunity and books Newhart's character at his apartment.

The Big Bang Theory is set to return on Thursday, April 4 at 8 p.m. EDT on the CBS network. Highlights from the early part of season six can be viewed below.
